All of the hidden wisdom
If it filled length n breath a kingdom
Makes no loud an impact
As an open folly in a breached pact
Once I was young and shallow
Now I am old ‘n a wiser fellow
I learned enough with cane and in shame
That age and wisdom are not one and same
In my opened bible I saw this clearly
Psalm 2;10 enjoins wise kings rule fairly
Kiss the son, lest he be angry ‘n brittle
And ye perish when his wrath is kindled but a little
In 1 Kings 11 the masses entreated
Ready to serve, all they asked is to be kindly treated.
Heavily burdened, tears rolled in cascade
Each submitting to reminiscences of collective bondage
Two advisers had Rehoboam, distinctly apart
Speak good words and they will serve you forever afar
But he forsook the counsel of the old men
And took to the hawks' and the yes men
Empty promises are trade mark of power
But in vain did all expect any pretense from this white tower
The hunter’s dog that must be lost in jungle
Remain oblivious of his master’s whistle
And the king answered them roughly
Exact words of the bible, I lie not
My yoke is heavier, my army unsparing
Live or die, cry or laugh I stand uncaring.
This king is dancing naked
Allies and foes are aghast on world stage
Things fall apart, the centre has since crumbled
If the wise man burns his own house so needlessly,
Why would you entrust him with yours?
