IT’S DIFFICULT NOT TO WORRY

The message on the tube are meant to soothe me
Cast your burden ‘pon the Lord
I preached it too to many who count me strong
Fear not, but in supplication bring them all before the Lord
Here now is a classic ‘xample of test of faith

Time is mixed up can’t even tell the days apart
I close my eyes in sleep but rest is afar off
My broad smile gives no inkling of the turbulence within
Which front line general is at peace I ask you
When his troops look up to him in vain?

Constricted, my aging belly can take only but little
Yet I worry not for adornments nor what I shall eat
True leaders have scant regard for self- aggrandisement
Oh, how thoughts of failing an army of dependants
Hurt more deeply than a knife in the marrow

Government promises are profuse but empty
Those who pay in millions and dictate our fate ashore
Know no palliatives can fill our masters’ gluttonous bellies
Time ticks, the meter my lot runs in cold indifference
The bills I still see show in vain do I expect debt forgiveness

Worrying is damaging the Doctor reiterates
He points to the ill and the dead in mounting numbers
Timothy says Godliness and contentment is great gain
Health is wealth is a phrase known to all ‘n sundry
In reality we know one without the other is great pain

Each extended week of closure brings further pain
Yet with mixed feeling do I await this imminent release
Never seen a time when answered prayer is more bittersweet
What awaits me keep my rejoicing in constant check
A pile of rubble left for none but me to clear

Lord if ever there was a time I needed a miracle
That time is Now.
